Effective 6 October 2026
Juna is operated by Romy Greenwald (“Juna,” “we,” or “us”), who is responsible for the personal information described here. This policy explains what information Juna collects, how it is used, who can see it, and the choices you have. For privacy questions or requests, contact support@junasocial.com.
Account. We collect your email address and the information needed to create and secure your account. Your password is stored only in scrambled (hashed) form by our sign-in provider. If you sign in with Google, we receive the name, email address, and profile picture Google shares with us. If you sign in with Apple, we receive your email address, or a private relay address if you choose to hide it, and your name if you choose to share it. Apple also gives us a token for your sign-in. We keep it only so that, when you delete your account, we can tell Apple to disconnect Juna from your Apple ID. If signing in with Apple creates a new account, the app asks whether you already have one. If you do and sign in to it, we connect your Apple ID to that account and delete the new, empty one.
Date of birth and country. When you join, we ask your date of birth and the country you live in. Members who joined before we asked are asked once. We keep these answers separately from your profile, in a part of our database that the app’s ordinary features cannot read. We use them to decide whether Juna is available to you, to apply the protections we give members under 18, and, as your age group only, for group rankings, described under “Who can see your information.”
If you aren’t eligible, your new account is deleted straight away and we don’t keep your answers. Your device remembers the outcome for 24 hours.
Profile. You choose a username, and may add a display name, profile photo, bio, city, school, skin type, and hair type. Your skin type and hair type are shown only to you. They can also count toward group rankings, described under “Who can see your information.” You may also tell us whether to show you products made for women, for men, or for everyone. Recommendations then leave out products made only for the others, and no other member sees your answer.
Your activity. We store the products you log and how you score and rank them, notes, shades, and lists. We also store comments, reactions, follows and follow requests, members you block, notifications, invitations, and your settings. A few early logs also have a photo attached; photos can no longer be added to logs.
Product-identification photos. If you photograph a product to identify it, the photo is sent to our AI provider to read the product’s name and brand. Juna does not store the photo or add it to your profile or logs. Our AI provider may keep it briefly under its own terms.
Profile photos. When you upload a profile photo, Juna crops and re-encodes it on your device before upload. This removes information embedded in the original file, such as the location where the photo was taken. We store the resulting photo in private storage and deliver it through links that expire.
Contacts and invitations. If you choose to find or invite friends, you pick contacts on your device. Juna turns each selected phone number into a scrambled code (a hash) on your device and sends only those codes to us. Contact names and phone numbers are never uploaded. We compare the codes against Juna’s records to show which contacts already have an account, and we don’t keep them after that check. If you send an invitation, we keep that contact’s code with your account so we can show the invitation’s status and let you know if they join.
If you allow Juna to access your contacts, the app reads them on your phone so you can search them and see who’s already on Juna. Their names and phone numbers stay on your phone; only the scrambled codes reach us, as above. You can instead choose just a few contacts, which gives Juna only those people, and you can turn contacts access off at any time in your phone’s Settings.
A code like this can still relate to a person, so we treat it as personal information. You send any invitation text yourself from your device’s messaging app; Juna never sends it for you. If you join through an invitation link, we record who invited you.
Reports and safety. If you report a profile, log, or comment, we store the report, the reason and note you give, and who made it. We also store information needed to respond to safety concerns. Juna also automatically checks comments, notes, list names, and profile details for certain words, such as slurs, and doesn’t save text that contains them.
Support. If you contact us or send feedback in the app, we receive your message and keep our correspondence with you. Feedback also carries the page you were on, your device and app version, and any screenshot you attach, which is re-encoded on your device first and stored privately.
Technical information. Our hosting, database, and sign-in providers receive your IP address, device and browser details, timestamps, and error information. This is needed to deliver the service, keep you signed in, and protect accounts.
Push notifications. If you turn on push notifications in the iPhone app, your phone gives us a push token: a code Apple uses to deliver notifications to that phone. We keep it with your account and the sign-in it came from, along with the app version. Each notification passes through Apple’s push service and says what it’s about, such as the member who followed you, the product, or the words of a comment.
Page analytics. Our hosting provider records page views. For each one it records the page address, the page you came from, your browser type, your language, and an approximate country worked out from your time zone. It also sets a random session identifier in a cookie or your browser’s storage, which expires after 30 minutes. This information isn’t linked to your Juna account.
On your device. The app keeps your sign-in session, a copy of recently viewed content so it opens quickly, and a few preferences in your device’s storage. The copied content is cleared when you sign out. The app also keeps a copy of its own pages, which contain none of your information, so it opens quickly even on a slow connection.
Amazon links. Some product pages link to the product on Amazon. If you follow one, Amazon may place and read cookies in your browser to tell that the visit came from Juna. As an Amazon Associate, Juna earns a commission on qualifying purchases. Amazon tells us which products were bought through these links, never who bought them, and Juna sends Amazon nothing about you. Commissions never affect scores or rankings.

Decisions about eligibility. Whether you can join is decided automatically from your date of birth and the minimum age for your country. If you think a decision about you is wrong, email support@junasocial.com and a person will review it.
What we don’t do. Juna does not sell your personal information, share it with other companies for their advertising, show you ads based on your activity on other apps and sites, or sell placement in member rankings. We don’t use your date of birth or country for anything except eligibility, teen protections, and the age groups used in group rankings and insights. If we introduce affiliate links or materially change how information is used, we will update this policy first.
Insights. We may combine many members’ product scores and rankings, together with age groups, skin types, and hair types, into insights that don’t identify anyone, such as the products members aged 18–24 rank highest. We may publish these insights, share them with brands and partners, or sell them. We don’t try to work out who is behind them, and we require anyone we share them with not to try either. Stealth logs are never included, and members who turn off Count me in group rankings are left out of insights by age group, skin type, and hair type.
Public profiles. Accounts of members aged 18 or over start public. Any signed-in member can find a public profile and see its photo, username, display name, and bio. They can also see its city and school, unless you hide them in Settings, and its logged, follower, and following counts. Signed-in members can see the products a public profile logs and how it ranks them: on the shelf, in activity and discovery features, and in Top 10 lists. People who aren’t signed in can’t browse member profiles; a shared link shows only the username.
Private accounts. Accounts of members under 18 start private, and any member can turn on Private account in Settings. A private account’s shelf, lists, and activity are visible only to followers it has approved. Anyone else who visits it sees only that it’s private and can ask to follow. Private accounts don’t appear on leaderboards, and appear in people search only for members who already follow them. If you make a private account public, pending follow requests are approved.
Leaderboard. The leaderboard ranks members by how many products they’ve logged. You appear on it only if you say yes. We ask when you join (members who joined earlier are asked on the Leaderboard page), and you can change your answer at any time in Settings → Privacy → Show me on the leaderboard. If you’re on it, signed-in members can see your rank, username, display name, photo, and number of products logged, and your city and school unless you hide them in Settings. They can filter it by city and school. Private accounts never appear on it, whatever the answer.
Protections for members under 18. A member under 18 starts with a private account and with city and school hidden. They can change these in Settings. If a member under 18 makes their account public, their profile, shelf, lists, and activity become visible to other members in the same way as any public account.
Never shown to other members: your email address, date of birth, country, skin type, and hair type.
Stealth logs. A log you mark as stealth is shown only to you, and isn’t used to recommend products to anyone else. Stealth mode is available once you’ve unlocked it. It isn’t counted in anything other members see, such as your profile’s “logged” number or a product’s averages.
Group rankings. Your age group (worked out from your date of birth), skin type, and hair type can count toward rankings of products by a group of members, such as “Top 10 among members 18–24” or a Top 10 ranked by members with curly hair. They are used only in combination with other members’: a product appears in one of these rankings only once at least three members of that group have ranked it, stealth logs never count, and no one can see which groups you are in. Rankings from the 13–17 group are shown only to members aged 13 to 17. You can turn this off in Settings → Privacy → Count me in group rankings.
Comments and reactions are visible to people who can see the log they’re on.
Follows and invitations. When you follow someone, or ask to follow a private account, Juna tells them. If you join through another member’s invitation link, Juna records who invited you, tells that member you joined, and suggests you to each other.
Blocking. You and a member you block can’t see each other’s profile, activity, or comments. You won’t be notified about or suggested to each other. The same applies when another member blocks you. Blocking also removes any follows between you, and unblocking doesn’t bring them back. You can see and unblock the members you’ve blocked in Settings → Blocked members.
Copies. Members may take screenshots or share information they can see. Juna cannot remove copies made outside the service.
We use these providers to run Juna. They receive only the information needed for their service and may not use it for their own purposes.

When you delete your account, we remove it and its content from the active service at once: your profile, lists, follows, notes, photos, stealth logs, comments, and reactions. Your other product scores stay in Juna’s averages and rankings, with no name, note, photo, or anything else that links them to you. Nothing is kept from an account deleted because its owner was below the minimum age. Copies may remain in backups until they expire. If you signed in with Apple, we also ask Apple to disconnect Juna from your Apple ID, and delete the token Apple gave us.
In Juna you can edit your profile, make your account private, hide your city or school, block members and unblock them (Settings → Blocked members), delete logs, and delete your account (Settings). You can ask for a copy of your data at any time by emailing support@junasocial.com. You choose whether to add optional profile details, upload photos, or use the contact picker. Your device settings let you withdraw camera, photo, contacts, or notification access. You can also turn push notifications off in Settings → Notifications.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your information. You may also have the right to restrict or object to certain uses, or to withdraw consent. To correct your date of birth or country, or to make any other request, email support@junasocial.com. We may need to verify your identity first, and we will respond within the time the law requires. We won’t treat you differently for exercising your rights.
Juna is for people aged 13 or older. Where a country sets a higher minimum age, that age applies there. We apply it from the date of birth and country you give when you join. If you are below the minimum age for your country, your new account is deleted straight away.
Juna does not currently collect parental consent. In countries where the law requires it for people of a certain age, Juna isn’t available until that age.
If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we delete it completely, including its product scores. If an account belongs to someone below the minimum age for their country, it is hidden from all other members until they reach that age, or deleted on request, again with nothing kept. If you believe a child is using Juna, contact support@junasocial.com.
Members under 18 get the protections described above. We encourage all members to avoid posting addresses, school schedules, phone numbers, or other details that could put them at risk.
Juna is operated from the United States, and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Those countries may not have the same data protection laws as yours.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland. Juna isn’t available to people who live in these countries yet.

Elsewhere. If the law where you live gives you rights not described here, email us and we will honor them.
We use reasonable measures to protect information. Access rules in our database decide who can see each piece of information. Dates of birth are stored apart from profiles, and contact numbers arrive only as scrambled codes. No online service can guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
We may update this policy as Juna changes. If a change is material, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
Some product names and barcodes come from Open Beauty Facts, made available under the Open Database License.
Product names and logos belong to their brands. Juna shows them only to identify the products members log, and isn’t affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any brand. If you own a product image and want it removed, email support@junasocial.com.
